USB flash drives come in a variety of shapes, sizes and colors, and storage capabilities they vary as much. This is why they are no longer considered only as a backup tool, but they are sometimes used to install an operating system from them, and as a tool that facilitates this action is WinSetupFromUSB.
This software solution has a user interface that is well-organized in which the user must first determine the USB drive they want to use, then use a special button for the format - all existing partitions will be deleted and not a single one made (all files are also removed, so it is recommended to make a backup first).
The next step is to choose the location of the target OS, and this tool supports multiple Windows and Linux flavors. Thus, one can choose to copy the installation kit for Windows 2000, XP, 2003, Vista, 7, 8 or Server 2008, with only specify the path to the sources and boot files. This utility also supports BartPE, WinBuilder, UBCD4WIN and WinFLPC.
When users want to install a particular Linux distribution using their USB Flash drives, they can choose from several options: PartedMagic, Ubuntu, grub4dos ISO compatible, syslinux bootsector or Linux distributions using syslinux.
Before proceeding with the copying files, it can also access the Advanced Options window and finetune configurations even more. However, while the actual application can be used by beginners and experts alike, the settings in this section can only be modified by professionals who have advanced PC skills.
After choosing to not add kicker ISO for Vista, 7, 8 or Server 2008 setup, not to copy and use the DPMS or to enable custom folder and name of the menu for 2000, XP and 2003, the user can test their newly created package in QEMU, process special emulator. Once they make sure everything goes smoothly, they can continue to copy the required files to the flash drive.
